Leaving IT: My Journey into Full-Time Art

It didn’t happen in one day. The decision to walk away from a stable, well-paying IT career and pick up a paintbrush full-time wasn’t a dramatic leap — it was a quiet unfolding.
The Life Before Art
For 17 years, I lived a life that made sense on paper. I had a good job, a great salary, and impressive corporate titles. But inside, something kept tugging at me. It was a whisper that grew louder each time I picked up a brush on weekends. Every time I painted an animal’s eyes, I felt seen in return.
The truth is, I didn’t leave IT because I hated it. I left because I couldn’t ignore the part of me that felt most alive when creating.
The Awakening
Art felt like remembering who I was. It wasn’t just about colors or canvases. It was about slowing down and feeling again. I began to observe the world — and myself — with more softness. I started painting not to impress anyone, but to reconnect. In that reconnection, I found clarity.
Facing Fears
Of course, it was scary. Leaving behind stability, status, and structure? Terrifying. But what was even scarier was imagining a future where I had never tried. So I chose art. I chose wildlife. I chose skies, stories, and the joy of creating something with my own hands.
The Joy of Creating
Now, I wake up each day with uncertainty — but also with purpose. I wouldn’t trade that for the world. The thrill of touching a blank canvas with vivid colors brings me joy. Each stroke tells a story, and each piece reveals a part of my soul.
